What the Legion Stands For

The Royal Canadian Legion was known as the British Empire League
and was later changed to become The Royal Canadian Legion as it is known today.
The purpose of the Legion was to help and assist members of the forces that returned
from war conflicts.  The wounded and the families of the forces.
The main program with the Legion is the Remembrance Day activities where we remember
the Veterans that lost their lives in the wars.
We have a church service where all our veterans are remembered.
This takes place at the 11th minute, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month every year.

We will have a wreath laying and the laying of a poppy for the veterans at
The Blessed Sacrament Church on Roanoke at 10:30AM, Nov 11th.

Transcona Sea Cadets News

Wintersail 2016, which is being held for 10 days in Victoria, BC.
Three of Transcona’s Cadets won the preliminaries this past fall in Gimli, MB., and are part of a group of only 16 Cadets from around the Northwest Region that are competing.  It is an amazing opportunity for them.

I just wanted to pass this along to you to show how much the Legion impacts what we are able to do for our Cadets.  While the DND pays for Wintersail entirely, we would not be able to develop and train our Cadets to the extent they are without the Transcona and Elmwood Legion’s ongoing support, and are proud to share a partnership with the Legion.

We are extremely proud of CP01 Sebastian Wright, P01 Cameron Kalynuik
and P01 Johnathan Wood for representing our communities.

Dinner Hosted by the Transcona Legion for EX-Service Men and Women

The Transcona Legion Poppy Committee hosted a  Dinner  for the Ex-Service Men and Women of the Transcona Area on Sept 29th.  The dinner was prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and was very delicious.  It was noted that they feel very appreciated for the service they gave our Country by us having a function like this for them.  Greetings were given by the President, Celeste West and the Poppy Chairman, Jim Sylvester.
