Wreaths for Veterans

On Sunday, December 3rd

Message from Peter Martin:

Good morning . Below is a picture taken at the Transcona Cemetery,
Field of Honour on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017.

Geoff Archambault purchased 32 Christmas wreaths and bows that
were placed at the beginning and end of each row of graves.
This donation was appreciated and added a very special touch in
recognition of all the Veterans lying in the Field Of Honour.

The Transcona BIZ donated tea lights that were placed on each
tombstone and a sunset picture will be taken soon and shared.
I drove by the cemetery last night and it was a beautiful sight
to see all 300 lights shining so brightly.

 Peter Martin

We encourage anyone who is available to come out and see this display

The generous donations in support of our Veterans is an example of Remembrance
and appreciation for the sacrifices of our Veterans.

Thank-you Peter Martin for the work you do in preserving the
Remembrance of Veterans in the Transcona community.

Dear Transcona community members:

For over 90 years, members of the Transcona Legion have helped us to remember.

They have faithfully visited our schools each year for Remembrance ceremonies.
They have led thousands of us in parades and services.
They have paid their respects to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.
They have brought meaning and depth to the act of Remembrance.

But now, they need our help.

The flags they use to “march on the colours” are worn out and need replacing.
The foundation of the Legion Hall is in dire need of repair.

In all, they need to raise $50,000 over the next few months to qualify for a matching grant so they can complete the repairs.

For over 90 years, the Transcona Legion has shared themselves with us.

Now we get to say Thank You. Please give generously.
