“A Veteran is any person who is serving or who has honorably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime.”

Notice from Province of Manitoba
Effective April 1, 2023, active military members and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces residing in Manitoba will no longer be required to obtain an angling licence. Instead of a licence, anglers must be able to show proof of Manitoba residency and one of the following documents when requested by an officer:
- Canadian Forces Identification Card,
- Record of Service Card, or
- Canadian Armed Forces Veterans’ Service Card.
