Branch # 7 Poppy Campaign

OUR POPPY CAMPAIGN WILL BE STARTING IN OCTOBER. THE POPPY IS THE SYMBOL OF REMEMBRANCE IN CANADA.

             WE INVITE MEMBERS OF OUR BRANCH AND THE COMMUNITY TO                VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS VERY IMPORTANT EVENT.

OUR CAMPAIGN IS SUCCESSFUL AS A RESULT OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE SEEN                            AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.

            THE POPPY IS WORN THE LAST FRIDAY IN OCTOBER TILL NOVEMBER 11TH

     TO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME, YOU CAN CALL OUR BRANCH OR COME DOWN AND                                          PLACE YOUR NAME ON OUR SIGN-UP SHEET.  

Legion Week

“LEGION WEEK”

Our Branch will be participating in their annual “Legion Week” September 22 -28th inclusive.

We typically start our week with the Veteran’s from our Branch attending a special dinner prepared by our Ladies Auxiliary.
Wednesday September 25th our Branch will be hosting Veterans from the Deer Lodge
Hospital and Park Manor along with members from the 17th Wing. This event is open to all
members of the Branch as well as our Community. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk
with our Veterans. They have some interesting stories and experiences to tell. There will be some of the Executive there but our focus is on our special guests. The doors for this event open at 11 a.m. with light refreshments provided by our Ladies Auxiliary.

The General Meeting of the Branch will be held on Thursday September 26th 7:30 p.m.
in the Clubroom open to all members. Please remember to have your current membership
card available.

58th Legion Athletic Camp

The application process is now closed thanks to all that applied

 

This camp is open to all students within our Community.

Please stop in to get a pamphlet and register a child through our Branch.

 

Our Branch may be able to assist with some of the registration costs. Some sports

available are track, advanced track, basketball, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball

 

Decoration Day Ceremonies

We are inviting Members of the Branch and our Community

to take part in our annual Decoration Day Ceremonies.

ALL ARE WELCOMED

June 2, 2019

This year also marks the 75th Anniversary of D-Day

 

Our first ceremony takes place at the Transcona Cemetery on Dugald Rd.

Time 1:30 p.m.

We honour Veterans who returned home from the various conflicts, lived their lives in Transcona and are buried here.

Crosses with poppies attached will be placed on each grave by family and friends of the Veterans.

There are some Veterans who do not have family available, we invite you to place a cross on a grave.

Our second ceremony starts at the Transcona Legion

Time 2:30 p.m.

We will march off to the Cenotaph in Memorial Park Circle

where a short ceremony and laying of Wreaths to honour our fallen.
